When it is necessary to extract a tooth it is important to also remove the surrounding diseased tissues. If left intact, these diseased tissues can slow or inhibit total healing and possibly cause a cavitation or bone infection. The purpose of the holistic extraction is to minimize the chance of developing a bone cavitation which is an empty area within the jaw bone that can harbor bacteria and interfere with your body’s ability to heal. This can lead to a depressed immune system and even chronic degenerative diseases throughout the body. This is why we believe it is important to remove all surrounding diseased tissues and strip the periodontal ligament after the tooth and root structure is removed, to allow for the best possible post operative healing of the extraction site.
